Vago per le strade di Londra cercando di non pensare al vento freddissimo, nonostante la giornata soleggiata, e al fatto che sto camminando sui tacchi da quasi un'intera giornata (un record personale). Sono riuscita ad aggiudicarmi alcuni inviti per le sfilate dei nuovi e giovani talenti inglesi (alcune decisamente degne di nota) e tra uno show e un altro riesco a concentrarmi sulle persone che affollano le zone principali dedicate al LFW e a crearmi una piccola raccolta di foto che, a mio parere, dicono molto di Londra e soprattutto dello spirito della settimana della moda.
Ho deliberatamente evitato di fotografare i soggetti più appariscenti. Mi perdonino gli eccentrici e i fashion addicted, non ho nulla contro l'appariscente e l'estremamente plateale, anzi!, è stata solo una scelta dovuta alla filosofia del blog. Enjoy!

I walk on the streets in Central London, trying to not think about the cold wind, despite the sunny day, and that I am walking on high heels for nearly an entire day (a personal record). I have some invitations for the fashion shows of some new and young British talents (some of them also very notable) and between one and another show I can concentrate myself on people who crowd the major areas reserved to LFW and to collect a small collection of photos that, in my opinion, they tell a lot about London and especially about the spirit of the Fashion Week.
I deliberately avoided to take photos of the most striking subjects. I hope that eccentric people and fashion addicted forgive me, I have nothing against the flashy and the extremely dramatic, I like it indeed! It is only been a choice due the philosophy of this blog. Enjoy!

Non mi si può impedire di raccogliere immagini della mia ultima fissazione, specialmente se mi trovo ad un Festival, in UK, con forti possibilità di pioggia. I rain boots versione fango e umidità possono forse risultare non troppo cool ma, diamine, è il loro habitat naturale! Aggiungeteci la fantasia e il gusto personale ed eccone il risultato.

I can not stop to collect images of my new discover, especially if I am in a Festival, in UK, with good possibilities of a wet weekend. The rain boots in the mud and humidity may not to be so cool but, the hell, it's their natural habitat!
Add to all of it some creativity and personal taste, and here's the result!

Tra pioggia, fango ma anche momenti sorprendentemente assolati ho sperimentato per la prima volta (vergogna, alla mia età :)) le gioie e i dolori che un vero Festival può dare. Il segno l'ha lasciato sicuramente...specialmente su gambe e braccia (eheh!). Come non apprezzare momenti come questi per fare il pieno di buonissima musica e raccogliere qualche spunto in più del lato "fashion" dei Festival?

Through rain, mud but also surprisingly sunny moments I experienced for the first time (shame, at my age :)) the joys and pains that a real Festival can give you. It has definitely left the sign...especially on my legs and arms (eheh!). How not to appreciate moments like these to listen really good music and collect more ideas from the "fashion" side of Festivals?

Ultimamente sono ossessionata da questa borsa: il brand è LONGCHAMP, il modello è conosciuto come Le Pliage, la borsa comoda perchè 'pieghevole' e facile da maneggiare. Semplice e perfetta combinazione di tela e pelle, risulta sempre nuova e mai noiosa grazie al fatto che viene continuamente proposta in nuovi colori in un piacevole contrasto con l'immutabile colore della pelle.
Esiste dal 1993...ora la vedo al braccio di un numero sempre più alto di persone, a volte autentica, altre volte un'imitazione, ma è anche da questo che si capisce quando qualcosa prende piede nella moda :)

Lately I am obsessed with this bag: the brand is LONGCHAMP, the sample is known with the name of 'Le Pliage', the handy bag because is 'pliable' and easy to handle. Simple and perfect combination of canvas and leather, it appears ever new and never boring thanks to the fact that this bag is constantly promoted in new colors, in a good contrast with the unchangeable color of the leather.
Le Pliage collection exists since 1993...now I see it handled for ever more people on the streets, sometimes is the authentic one, sometimes is fake, but is also from this thing that we know when something good is becoming a trend in the fashion world :)

Ciò che la città offre è una gran quantità di spunti e di stili decisamente interessanti... impossibile restare impassibili. L'occhio coglie quello che lo colpisce, la macchina fotografica archivia ciò che l'occhio vede, e questo per me è un bene.
(per fortuna) La ricerca è ancora lunga.

What the city is offering is a massive quantity of ideas and styles...it is impossible to be impassive. Eyes catch what they are attracted from, the camera registers what the eye sees, and this is good for me.

Sto lentamente cercando di inserirmi nella vita londinese, cosa che mi è sempre riuscita piuttosto bene. Eppure questa volta lo sto facendo con spirito diverso perchè mentalmente so che non è più un integrarsi temporaneo, calcolando tristemente quanti giorni mancano al ritorno a casa...in questo momento so che "casa" è qui e ora, in questa città ormai a me non più sconosciuta, dove l'estate non è ancora arrivata e non sarà mai come quella che io ho in mente, dove spero di poter stare abbastanza a lungo da poter pensare lucidamente in inglese, collocare determinate strade in determinate zone senza il bisogno di una mappa, uscire la mattina per andare a lavorare assieme a persone che conosco, senza più la tremenda sensazione di essere l'ultima arrivata.
Devo dire che la mia permanenza nella nuova patria è cominciata bene: la Clerkenwell Design Week ha offerto atmosfere e situazioni che ricordavano quelle ancora percepibili del Salone del Mobile di Milano, da poco conclusosi, eppure nuove perchè nuovo era il luogo.
Nuovi talenti da applaudire, nuove persone da fotografare...e Londra diventa così il nuovo capitolo della mia vita.

Day by day I am trying to be involved in the London's life, and normally it is something that I menage pretty well. But this time I am doing it with a different feeling because in my mind I know that it is not a temporary situation, sadly thinking about that soon I will come home again...in that moment I know that "home" is here and now, in this city not unknown anymore, where Summer is not come yet and anyway it will be not as the one I remember, where I hope to stay as long as I can think with english words without problems, to place specific streets in specific places without any map, go at work every morning and work with people that I know, without the strange feeling of "the last one arrived".
But I have to say that my life in my new "home" is started pretty well: the Clerkenwell Design Week offered similar feelings and situations to the still perceptible Milan Design Week, recently ended, but new feelings in the same time because the place was new.
New talents to applaud, new people to photograph...and so London becomes the new chapter of my life.

E' da tempo ormai che, quando ho voglia di rilassarmi e sono particolarmente ispirata, mi lancio nella creazione di "armadi digitali" che, purtroppo devo ammetterlo, nella realtà non mi è ancora possibile riempire in maniera così fantasiosa, ma che mi permette di mantenere la mente allenata e attenta alle nuove tendenze.
Da oggi ho trovato un nuovo modo di farmi ispirare dalle persone che incontro per strada e che archivio in scatti fotografici: polyvore.com mette a disposizione un portale web con accesso gratuito (basta una registrazione con qualche dato personale che permetta di identificarsi in mezzo a molti molti altri) con l'obiettivo di dare sfogo al proprio stile attraverso la creazione di outfit che magari nella realtà a volte sono un tantino difficili da creare per varie ragioni. Ora finalmente posso ricreare i miei outfit preferiti usando come fonte di ispirazione le mie stesse foto, inoltre rinnovo un pò il blog, che non abbandona assolutamente la sua linea originaria ma forse si arricchisce un pò. Bello.

Sometimes, when I want to have some relax and I feel inspired, I put all myself into the creation of "digital wardrobe" that, ufortunately I have to admit, in the real life it is not still possible for me to make it full and in that ambicious way, but anyway it gives me the possibility to keep clear my mind about new trends.
Today I found a new way to be inspired from people and their style on the streets and that I daily archive through the photos that I take: polyvore.com is a web space with free access (you only have to write something about you just to emerge in the middle of many many people) with the aim of let free the style inside us, through the creation of some outfits that maybe in the real life sometimes are just a bit difficult to create for many reasons.
Now finally I can create my favourite outfits simply using my own photos as inspiration, in that way I also a pretty new face of my blog, that of course do not change its original "philosophy" but maybe in that way would be more interesting. Nice.

Giunta al mio quinto anno di presenza al Salone del Mobile ancora non riesco a stancarmene. Girare per la città durante questa settimana è emozionante quanto una caccia al tesoro ben riuscita. Luoghi e persone sembrano cambiare in linea con l'atmosfera che regna in tutta Milano e tutto sembra più nitido e vivo..è come se la città si allargasse per fare spazio al doppio delle persone che la popolano quotidianamente, come vedere tutto in grandangolo e con una luce molto più densa e calda.
Non credo che mi stancherò mai di vivere Milano durante questa settimana.

This is my fifth year at Milan Design Week and I still can not get bored of it. Going around the city during this week is as exciting as a treasure hunt well done. Places and people seem to change in line with the feeling that dominates all over Milan and everything seem clearer and alive...as if the city is expandig to let to live in it twice as many people that normally live here, is like seeing everything in wide angle lens and with a much more dense and warm light.
I think that I will never be tired to live Milan during this week.

Mi è sempre stato detto che Parigi è spettacolare, indimenticabile, per molti impareggiabile rispetto agli altri paesi europei...direi che tre giorni non possono bastare per conoscere a fondo questa città, ma posso dire con assoluta certezza che la capitale francese ha in sè una personalità stilistica davvero unica che la rende decisamente affascinante...in effetti devo rendere atto ai suoi molti ammiratori. Chapeau Paris!

I have ever heared from people that Paris is spectacular, unforgettable, for many inimitable in comparison to the other European countries...I would say that three days cannot be enough to know this city very well, but I can say with absolute certainty that the French capital keep in itself an unique stilistic personality that makes it really fascinating...actually his many fans have absolutely right. Quando più di un anno fa mi sono trovata a lavorare alla mia tesi di laurea non avevo assolutamente idea di cosa fare per realizzarla, o se l'avrei mai realizzata perchè l'idea che avevo in testa era tanto intricata quanto strampalata: un ibrido tra la guida turistica, il cool hunting, il reportage e un saggio di sociologia. Sapevo solo che dovevo mettermi al lavoro 1. perchè la laurea di certo non te la regalano 2. perchè l'idea,per quanto astratta, mi piaceva davvero! Ed eccomi qui, un anno e 4 mesi dopo, più di sei mesi di duro lavoro, un'estate a Londra, una laurea in mano..e questo... Certo non sarà il libro che speravo di pubblicare (non ancora...la speranza è l'ultima a morire) però alcune foto del mio reportage fotografico sono ora su CasaD, in edicola per due mesi: gente "comune" associata a pezzi di design, quasi sulla stessa linea di pensiero su cui mi sono basata per tutta la mia tesi e su cui baso il mio blog. Se esiste una vera identificazione tra la città e l'individuo che la abita, qui è visibile e quasi concreta l'identificazione tra lo stile di un individuo e il design che ci circonda: la vita quotidiana continua ad essere il terreno fertile da cui prendiamo spunto per ogni cosa.

L'uno naif e con echi allo strano mondo di Alice nel Paese delle Meraviglie, l'altro profondamente critico e ironico nei confronti della società odierna. Questi per me sono i designers del Salone del Mobile 2010. Chiaramente è un giudizio puramente soggettivo e non mi voglio innalzare a giudice assoluto, è solo che sono stata colpita dall'ecletticismo nell'uso dei materiali delle due giovani designers che hanno creato una mobilia, con tanto di accessori, funzionale e al contempo decisamente piacevole esteticamente, e dall'acutezza da parte di un gruppo di creativi nel parlare delle crisi più profonde nelle quali, volenti o nolenti, siamo oggi coinvolti(dalla crisi del burka, a quello dell'anoressia, fino a quella della chiesa) attraverso il design. Io per ora prendo nota e mi complimento!

The first one is naif and with something inside that remember the strange world of Alice in Wonderland, the other one is deeply critical and ironic against the today's society. These for me are the designers of the Design Week 2010. Naturally it is a purely subjective judgment and I don't want to rise myself to an absolute judge, it is only because I have been surprised from the eclecticism in the use of materials by two young designers who created a functional forniture, whit accessories, and at the same time aesthetically pleasant, and from the acuteness of a group of creative people who want to speack about the deepest crises in which, voluntarily or not, we are all involved today (from the crisis of burka, to the anorexia or the crisis of the Church) through design. For now I take notices and I congratulate to them!

La manualità e l'artigianato sono per me sempre un'ottima scelta per il design. L'esperienza che ho avuto nel campo dell'artigianato mi ha permesso di capire quanto importante sia intervenire manualmente su ciò che si produce perchè, oltre che ad ottenere risultati e pezzi sempre unici, si crea con il prodotto una sorta di "feeling tattile" ed emozionale che altre tecniche non danno. Inoltre l'utilizzo di tessuti e arti che fondamentalmente appartengono al mondo della moda rende questo tipo di produzione, a mio parere, ancor più interessante e preziosa.

Craftiness is for me always a good choice for design. The experience that I have had in the world of the handicraft has allowed to me to understand how much important is to operate by hand on what we produce, besides to get always uniques results and pieces, we create a kind of a "tactile feeling" and an emotional feeling that other techniques do not give. Besides the use of fabrics and arts that normally belongs to the world of fashion, it makes this type of productions, to my opinion, even more interesting and precious.

Lo so...risulta sdolcinato e io per prima, che romantica (per fortuna o purtroppo) non lo sono proprio, lo ammetto. Però l'idea è venuta a più di qualcuno e in fondo trovo carino questo "design per due", che siano due amici o innamorati, che permette di condividere lo stesso spazio, in una nuova forma. E quindi evviva la coppia!

I know it...it results sentimental and me before everybody, that I am not really romantic (luckily or unfortunately), I admit it. However this idea has come to more than someone and after all I think it is nice this "design for two", two friends or lovers, that allows to share the same space in a new form. So...hurray the couple!

Quando arte, creatività e divertimento si fondono risulta difficile non prestare attenzione. La forma prevale solo perchè è ciò che salta immediatamente all'occhio, ma la maggior parte di quello che viene proposto risulta altrettanto funzionale. Il sense of humor è la carta vincente.

When art, creativity and fun are melted it results difficult not to pay attention. The form prevails only because it is what immediately is caught by the eyes, but the greatest part of this type of design it results functional as well. The sense of humor is the goal.

Non è esattamente una novità, è più che altro un sentimento, un bisogno che il mondo del design (e non solo) sente fortemente da alcuni anni soprattutto. L'aspetto interessante, e se si vuole anche divertente (per me decisamente sì), è che il riutilizzo a favore dell'ecosostenibilità permette di riscoprire pezzi di passato che riaffiorano alla memoria, o creare una sorta di ready-made, che nuovamente sorprendono ancor più di qualcosa mai visto prima.

It is not exactly something new, it is a feeling, a need the world of design (and not only design) is strongly feeling especially since some years. The interesting aspect, and funny, is that recycling for ecodesign allows to rediscover pieces of past that comes to memory, or to create a new ready-made, that surprise us even more of something ever seen before.

E' innegabile: Milano offre spesso eventi e serate molto interessanti e, certo, divertenti dove divertimento, stile e nuovi spunti provenienti da ogni ambito culturale sono a nostra disposizione...non posso fare altro che seguire tutto ciò e ringraziare Milano...ancora una volta :)

I like the fact that it's a modern city, very outgoing, people are always in the streets. I don't like Milan when it's very cold, or humid, and cloudy.. the grey city!

Dove compri i vestiti? Where do you go when you go shopping?
Everywhere. From Hugo Boss, to Diesel, to H&M and Zara.

Perchè hai scelto questo determinato stile (il tuo) di abbigliamento? Why did you chose this style (yours) of clothes?
Because I feel very comfortable in them, it expresses my personality, and they adapt to my every-day lifestyle.

Che indumento/accessorio guardi di più nelle persone? Which garment/accessory do you look in the other people mostly?

In their handbags and shoes. Accessories I might say. When it's in the winter, I see their scarves, and hats, even umbrellas.

For me style is the way people are. The way they dress, act, what they do every day and how they do it, it's a style. It can be a good style or a bad style; depending on people's taste.

Dark glasses, without a doubt. Umbrella because it rains often. And a wind jacket.

Working out in the gym, to my favourite bar, and shopping in the center.

Yes, because I feel comfortable in that city, and I feel I am not the only one who wants to express myself throughout clothes.

Dal 27 al 29 settembre sono stata tra lo staff Naba alla Fiera White in via Tortona (http://www.whiteshow.it/)...l'ispirazione tra i fashion designers non mancava di certo! Bella esperienza! E anche qui non ho mancato di approfittarne per catturare i personaggi che si aggiravano tra gli stand bianchi del Superstudio+.

From September 27th to September 29th I was a member of Naba's staff for White (http://www.whiteshow.it/)...the inspiration from all those fashion designers was everywhere! Great experience! And also this time I used the occasion to catch people who was around the white stands of Superstudio+.
